Welcome to the website of the Bishop Guertin High School community.
We are a Catholic educational community and that is what we strive to be daily - a community that forms young people far beyond good grades and college placements. We’re concerned about them being great people who can make a difference in the world around them.
In the rest of these ever-changing pages, you will see glimpses of this community in action:
- in an outstanding and challenging college-prep curriculum.
- in faculty and staff that understand our mission to nurture the young and make it true in their daily efforts.
- in a thoughtful religious studies and faith formation program including an challenging curriculum, retreats, liturgies and times of reflection for adults and children alike.
- in an athletic program second to none, both in our results and in our demand that young people be the best they can be, well beyond simply winning or losing.
- in caring, compassionate and self-disciplined young people who are at the core of all we do.
- in the daily life of Bishop Guertin– where we hope it is evident even if you are just here visiting.
As you walk through these pages, remember our focus – it is constantly on the young people in our care – these young people who will be the leaders of tomorrow. That is as daunting a challenge as there can be. Yes, it is true. We touch the future. And hopefully we have some part in its transformation for the better.

Like everything else at BG, our shield and motto reflect a commitment to our historical mission and to the young people in our care.
On the shield, the water and the crosier emphasize the school’s link to two New Hampshire bishops: Bishop Georges-Albert Guertin after whom the school is named and Bishop Primeau who established the school. The image of Sacred Heart acknowledges the continuing service of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart to the school community from its founding till today. Finally the book or bible emphasizes the two forms of learning that are at the core of a BG formation: the learning needed to enable our students to reach their full potential and the faith that roots them in the knowledge and experience of God.
Finally our school motto reflects that whole person formation which we strive to provide for all our students: Scientia et Sanctitas – Knowledge and Holiness. Both are indispensable elements of a BG education.
In 1821, Father André Coindre founded the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. The Rule of Life of the Brothers states - To rescue the young from ignorance, to prepare them for life, and to give them a knowledge and love of religion. That mission lives on today in this school community in everything we do.
