About Us
Mission
As a school of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, Bishop Guertin High School seeks to live out the mission of our founder, Father André Coindre. That mission has not changed over the years, even though our ministries have evolved into many forms, always responding to the needs of each place.

At Bishop Guertin High School, our mission is made evident through:
  • an educational philosophy built on God’s love for us all,
  • a strong college-preparatory curriculum, and
  • a formation that seeks to nurture in young people
  • an awareness of their gifts and to prepare them to make a difference in our world.
Our mission statement makes it clear: we have a single focus – the young people in our care. We strive to challenge them in every aspect of the human person (intellectual, emotional, physical, social and spiritual) to reach their true potential.

Whether student, parent, alumni, faculty or staff—all join us in that mission!

We are not just one school, but more than a dozen in the US and England and many more beyond. We are part of an international religious community and our schools are a network that seeks to support the vision of Father Coindre in solidarity with each other. It is a unique part of who we are.

In the US and England, a common charism statement puts our perspective in place, no matter where our mission takes us. At its core are seven characteristics that constantly call us to assess our mission and make sense of it in light of a world-wide perspective. In each country and location, our schools all over the world model these values and make them real for the next generation.

In solidarity with our brothers and lay partners throughout the world, we are the continuing mission and ministry of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart.
Preamble, Rule of Life

“To rescue the young from ignorance,
to prepare them for life, and
to give them a knowledge and love of religion.”
