Austin Caito Selected for NHIAA Student Leadership Conference
Each year, The NHIAA Student Athlete Leadership Committee selects six students from schools around New Hampshire to attend the NFHS Leadership Conference. This year's conference was held in Indianapolis from July 15-18. The conference is a four day leadership session that draws over 300 student and adult leaders from across the United States. The conference addresses and discusses contemporary issues that impact young people as they strive to become leaders and role models to their peers. Guest speakers share stories of overcoming challenges, perserverance and celebrating their talents.
We congratulate Austin Caito '11 for being selected and representing the Bishop Guertin school community. "The trip to Indianapolis was an amazing trip that I will remember for the rest of my life" remarks Austin. " I met so many interesting people that had such a large impact on my life and the decisions that I make. The atmosphere everyday was always positive because of the other kids and counselors willingness to learn information about their leadership roles in their schools and how they can make a difference in the world. Overall, I received an enormous amount of information from this conference that I hope to share throughout Bishop Guertin with everyone else and also new quality traits that I am trying to apply to make myself a better person and hopefully they will rub off on others. As they said in the conference "A leader has the ability to make a community better, they can set a positive example and watch it spread like a ripple affect as it slowly moves outward towards more people in the community".
Congratulations - well done!
