Girls Dress Code

Girls Uniform

Female students wear: a Bishop Guertin oxford blouse, a Bishop Guertin skirt or khaki-style pants, closed toe shoes of leather or suede upper and hard sole, and stockings (knee length stockings, tights or nylons, while wearing the skirt). Hair must be neatly kept and piercings limited to traditional earlobe piercings. Traditional headbands and hair ties are allowed. An official Bishop Guertin sweater or solid-color blazer may be worn. Polo shirts are allowed between April 1st and October 31st, unless a formal event is scheduled during the school day.

The following list suggests common dress code issues and is a limited sampling of the concerns/garments generally addressed as impermissible on both, dress code as well as casual dress days:

  • Ripped, torn or tattered clothes
  • athletic/workout attire
    • shorts
    • nylon/lycra pants
    • yoga pants, etc.)
  • piercings (with the exception of ears of girls)
  • sleeveless shirts
  • spaghetti straps
  • shorts
  • skirts or dresses of immodest length
  • athletic socks in place of stockings (girls)
  • visible undergarments
  • inappropriate or unacceptable footwear
  • garments allowing a bare midriff
  • hats
  • head scarves
  • bandannas

 

Boys Dress Code

Boys Uniform

Male students wear: a tucked-in Bishop Guertin oxford shirt, a tie, Dockers-style/khaki-style pants, a belt, dress shoes of leather or suede upper and hard sole, and socks. Hair must be neatly kept and off the collar and ponytails, buns, and piercings are not permitted. Neatly-trimmed facial hair is acceptable. No earrings or visible jewelry may be worn. An official Bishop Guertin sweater or a solid-color blazer may be worn. Polo shirts are allowed between April 1st and October 31st, unless a formal event is scheduled during the school day.
