Academics

"To rescue the children from ignorance, to prepare them for life and to give them a knowledge and love of religion."

Preamble - Rule of Life, Brothers of the Sacred Heart
The academic journey at Bishop Guertin begins with the ultimate goal in mind: to be prepared for college and for life — intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

BG’s rigorous college-preparatory program prepares students to excel in college. Courses are designed to be appropriately challenging for every student, from standard college-prep classes to Advanced Placement courses.

BG students work hard and have fun.  Whether solving an equation, writing an essay, collecting pond specimens for a biology lab, or researching a history project, BG students don't just learn facts and figures — they learn how to think and how to learn.

BG teachers are knowledgeable in their disciplines and put their students first.  The strong relationships that our students develop with their teachers is essential to success in high school and beyond. The dedicated faculty—many of whom have advanced degrees in their fields—are always available for extra guidance and support.

BG students are guided towards outstanding colleges.  BG’s college placement counselors meet frequently with students from ninth grade onward to help them craft courseloads that prepare them intellectually and maximize their options when applying to college in their senior year.  (View Bishop Guertin's Recent College Acceptance List.)
