The band rehearses regularly during the school day in preparation for at least three formal concert performances during the school year. The active band program also provides chamber music for various school and community events. This course may be taken at the Honors level which requires additional assignments and performances. Members of the Concert Band also perform as the Cardinal Marching Band, a group which is very active during the fall, performing at football games and parades. Band camp occurs the week before school begins and is where students learn the fundamentals of marching as well as the music and drill for the year’s field show. During the spring, the ensemble marches in Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Nashua’s Memorial Day Parade. Musicians receive 1 Fine Arts credit per year and are strongly encouraged to participate in band for four years.
