Prospective Parents
What does it mean to be a Bishop Guertin parent? It’s all about partnership.
Bishop Guertin High School’s identity as a Brothers of the Sacred Heart school calls us to the formation of our students as whole people. We hope that they will enter the world as “tolerant, just, and involved men and women of faith who accept the task of building the Kingdom of God and of transforming, for the better, the world in which they live.”
Adolescence can be a turbulent time. Raising young adults who are educated and prepared for college but also compassionate, involved, ethical, and faithful is counter-cultural in today’s world. At a time when both families and schools find themselves subjected to many pressures, the only path to success in this endeavor is a strong two-way partnership between the school and the parent. As Br. John Collignon, early Principal of Bishop Guertin, pointed out to the parents of his time, “we must work together.” The culture has changed, but the need still exists.
Each student is up to the challenges that he or she will face. In the words of our founder Fr. André Coindre, “…hope for their transformation must never be lost.” Through our partnership as parents and educators, this transformation will be achieved.
