Boys Hockey Wins 2026 State Championship
March 14, 2026
MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Bishop Guertin boys hockey team captured its eighth state championship in program history on Saturday, March 14, defeating Concord, 1-0, in overtime at SNHU Arena.
Senior Jordan O’Hearn delivered the title-clinching moment with a shot from just inside the blue line that deflected off a Concord defenseman’s stick. The change in trajectory caused the Tide goaltender to misread the angle, and the puck slipped under his stick and into the back of the net. The goal broke the scoreless tie and sparked a frenzied celebration in front of the BG student section.
For the Cardinals, the victory served as a measure of redemption against Concord, which defeated Bishop Guertin in last year’s state championship game between the same two teams. Unlike last year’s marathon contest — when Concord needed a fourth overtime period to secure the win — Saturday’s championship was decided earlier in the extra session, with O’Hearn’s game-winner coming at 6:31 of the fourth period.
Sophomore goaltender Nico Scaparotti was outstanding in net, posting an 18-save shutout to keep Concord’s high-powered offense off the scoreboard. He was aided by a disciplined defensive effort in front of him, as the Cardinals consistently blocked shots and limited Concord’s opportunities in the high-danger areas of the ice. BG’s forwards also contributed with a relentless forecheck that helped keep the puck out of their defensive zone for much of the game.
The championship marks the eighth state title in program history for Bishop Guertin boys hockey. The 2026 squad now joins past championship teams from 1987, 2000, 2001, 2007, 2008, 2015, and 2023 with banners hanging in the rafters at both Skate 3 and Collignon Gymnasium.
Saturday’s victory also represented the 139th team state championship in school history.
