Khan and Woodward: Top of the Class of 2026
May 28, 2026
In early May, Bishop Guertin held its annual Scholar’s Breakfast, an event recognizing members of the senior class who have achieved exceptional academic success. During the event, several students were honored for their outstanding performance over the past four years, including Mohid Khan and Samuel Woodward, who were announced as the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, for the BG Class of 2026.
Now, with graduation day quickly approaching, Khan and Woodward are reflecting on their time on Lund Road, sharing insights about themselves, their future plans, and the experiences that helped shape who they are as they prepare for commencement.
Mohid Khan | Valedictorian
Hometown: Hollis, NH
Previous school: Academy for Science and Design
College attending in Fall 2026: Yale University
Planned Area of Study: Neuroscience and Religious Studies
How did Bishop Guertin prepare you for college: The rigorous courses and academic expectations at BG taught me the intensity of college-level coursework and instilled proper time-management/study skills. More importantly, BG emphasized the importance of building relationships with teachers and taught soft skills like public speaking that can be used beyond the classroom.
Your most memorable BG experience: Playing in the band at the first football game of freshman year. The weather was warm (especially for September), the game was exciting, and it was one of the best overall marching performances I’ve had during high school.
Your clubs and activities: Band (Marching, Concert, Honors, and Pep), National Honor Society, Campus Ministry, Red Cross, Quiz Bowl, Mental Health Activism
A final thought that encompasses your BG experience: In addition to strong academics, BG’s focus on faith helped me develop my relationship with God. Everyone here was truly welcoming and supported me in any sort of challenge throughout my four years, helping me make lifelong friends. In my opinion, BG is the best school I’ve attended thus far.
Samuel Woodward | Salutatorian
Hometown: Nashua, NH
Previous School: Saint Christopher Academy
College Attending in Fall 2026: University of Massachusetts Amherst
How did Bishop Guertin prepare you for college: BG prepared me for college in many ways. It made me learn how to manage my time by balancing sports, friends, and a rigorous workload. It also gave me a foundation in research papers and how to write for college. I also learned how to study and how to connect with a community due to the hospitality and kindness of The Nest. Overall, I feel that I will excel in college due to the hard work I have put in at Bishop Guertin.
Your most memorable BG experience: I would say winning the state championship with the boys soccer team my senior year was my most memorable experience because we were not expected to be good and we shocked the state as the No. 3 seed. The team was extremely close and running across the field after the golden goal is something I will remember forever.
Clubs and Activities: Soccer, Basketball, Track & Field, Spanish National Honor Society, National Honor Society, Weightlifting Club
A final thought that encompasses your BG experience: One final thought would be that although times were hard with school and sports, I feel that in the end the friendships and bonds I have made truly reflect the memories and experiences I have had and what it truly means to be a Cardinal. I wouldn’t trade these last four years for anything else. It was an amazing experience.
