Important Back-To-School Events: Class of 2030

As the start of the school year approaches, we are preparing for our back-to-school events. Please confirm these dates on your calendar.
CARDINAL SUMMER SOCIAL
Thursday, August 6 | 5 – 6:30 PM – Back Parking Lot

Join us for a special event designed to welcome the Class of 2030 and other new students. Enjoy ice cream, lawn games, and a variety of activities as you connect with fellow incoming students in a fun and relaxed setting.

If you haven’t registered already, please log into your parent myBG account, accessing your checklists and completing the registration for the Cardinal Summer Social under the summer enrichment tab.
FRESHMAN CLASS KICKOFF
Monday, August 24 | 7:45 AM – 2:30 PM – Gymnasium

On this mandatory school day for freshmen, students will come together as the Class of 2030. Guided by their upper-class mentors, they will engage in activities and discussions building community and a greater sense of what it means to be a Cardinal. Lunch will be provided by Bishop Guertin.

Students should be dropped off at the Gymnasium at 7:45 AM in appropriate dress down attire.

Lunch will be provided by Bishop Guertin.

Students should not bring any textbooks, computers, or other school supplies to the Freshman Class Kickoff. Phones may be carried but must be out of sight during the day.

The day concludes at 2:30 PM. Students may be picked up in the front loop.
FRESHMAN CLASS ORIENTATION
Tuesday, August 25 | 7:45 AM – 2:30 PM – Gymnasium

On this mandatory school day for freshmen, students will meet their teachers, complete an abbreviated class schedule, learn about school procedures, and be introduced to their school counselors. Lunch will be provided by Bishop Guertin.

Students should be dropped off at the Gymnasium in full dress code, including the Bishop Guertin oxford shirt (including tie for boys). (Polo shirts are not worn at Freshman Orientation.)

Students should bring their textbooks to Orientation Day. A designated time will be provided in the morning so students can place their textbooks and other belongings in their lockers.

Students should also bring their laptops to ensure that everyone is connected to the school Wi-Fi and able to access the necessary online resources.

Students may bring their phones to school, but phones must be placed in their lockers during the designated locker time. After that, students should not have their phones with them for the remainder of the day.
FRESHMAN CONVOCATION
Tuesday, August 25 | at 6:30 PM – Gymnasium

The Freshman Convocation (a new event in 2026) marks the official beginning of each student’s Bishop Guertin journey. Convocation recognizes a student’s beginnings on this journey. Students will hear from school and student leaders, reflect upon this milestone, and be formally welcomed into the Bishop Guertin community.

The ceremony will include the presentation of the Class Banner and Class Candle, symbols that will accompany the Class of 2030 throughout their four years at Bishop Guertin. Students will also be presented with a class pin as a visible sign of their belonging to the community.

All freshmen students and at least one parent or guardian are expected to attend this special evening as we formally welcome the Class of 2030 into the Bishop Guertin community.

Students should be in formal attire for a ceremony. (Boys: dress shirt, tie, khaki pants with belt, leather dress shoes. Girls: dress of appropriate length and style or business professional blouse/oxford with slacks, appropriate dress shoes. Blazer or sport coat encouraged. No flip-flops, sneakers, hats, denim, sweatshirts, polo shirts, t-shirts, shorts. School dress code with oxfords and ties meets all requirements for this event.)
FIRST DAY OF CLASSES
Wednesday, August 26 | 7:30 AM – 2:30 PM

The first regular day of classes for all students is Wednesday, August 26.

Students are expected to be present in advisory at 7:40 AM that morning.

Students should be in dress code; polo shirts permitted.

We encourage you to drop off early to help ensure that your student is on time regardless of traffic.
FRESHMAN PARENT KICKOFF / ORIENTATION
Monday, August 31 | 6:30 PM – Gymnasium

This meeting helps to establish the important partnership between the school and the parents in ensuring the success of each student. The focus of this evening is on the practical scenarios, challenges, and opportunities that arise over a student’s first year at Bishop Guertin.

All parents are asked to attend. This event is for parents only.
FRANCONIA NOTCH FRESHMAN CLASS TRIP
Saturday, September 12 | 8 AM – 3 PM – Flume Gorge and Loon Mountain

The Freshman Class Trip is a day of adventure, friendship, and community at the Franconia Notch and Loon Mountain in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire.
-
This is an important class milestone and opportunity for community building, and all freshmen are strongly urged to participate.
-
Students are transported by bus from BG. Lunch is provided.

Dress code is casual, and students are asked to wear Bishop Guertin attire (sweatshirts, t-shirts).

Sign-up information will be sent out via email during the first week of classes.
