34th Annual Christopher Griffin ’79 Memorial Golf Tournament A Success

On Friday, August 14th, 124 golf enthusiasts gathered at Passaconaway Country Club in Litchfield, NH to play in the 34 th Christopher Griffin ’79 Memorial Golf Tournament. This
annual tournament raises funds to go towards scholarships and the arts programs at Bishop Guertin High School. The tournament is named after Christopher Griffin, a BG graduate who died in a tragic auto accident in 1986.

The tournament is a great opportunity for alums, supporters, and friends of Bishop Guertin to get together. “This year’s tournament was a rousing success, despite contending with COVID- 19” said Richard (Dick) Lavoie ’67, co-chairman of the event. “From the dedicated players to the amazing volunteers, to the incredibly accommodating staff at Passaconaway, this tournament continues to be a true testament to the life and legacy of Chris Griffin.” “This event has made a huge impact at Bishop Guertin over the last 34 years, especially to the Fine Arts program and deserving scholarship recipients,” said Dan Cosgrove ’79, co-chairman. “This year, despite the obstacles, we were able to award three $1,000 scholarships to underclass students and a $2,000 scholarship to a graduating senior. This would certainly not be possible without the continued support of our sponsors and players who return year after year. And for that, we are truly grateful.”
