BG Hires 3 New Varsity Head Coaches

The Bishop Guertin Athletics Department is pleased to announce the hiring of three varsity head coaches for the upcoming 2025-26 school year.

Matthew Erb (Girls Volleyball), Jason Malcolm (Golf) and Dan Warshafsky (Wrestling) will each lead their respective Cardinal programs moving forward, aiming to build success both in competition and within the BG community.

“To say we are pleased with these three coaches taking over their respective programs would be an understatement,” said Athletics Director Ryan Brown. “The search process brought forward many strong candidates for each role, but Matt, Jason, and Dan truly stood out. Each brings a unique style to their team, yet they share a common vision and a deep commitment to helping our student-athletes grow, both in their sport and as well-rounded individuals.”

“We’re excited to see them lead our Cardinal teams into new eras of success,” Brown added.

Matthew Erb will take the helm of the girls volleyball program following a successful season as the coach of the Cardinals’ junior varsity team. The 2025 campaign will mark his sixth year coaching girls volleyball. Prior to joining BG, Erb spent two years coaching the JV program at Goffstown High School and has been active with Dynamo NH Volleyball Club for the past six years, coaching age groups from 14U to 18U. This club season, he joins the newly launched elite-level Summit Six Volleyball Club. A four-year member of the UNH Men's Club Team during his collegiate career, Erb remains active in the volleyball community, competing in tournaments throughout New England as a player.

Jason Malcolm brings a wealth of high-level coaching experience to BG as he most recently served as the Director of Men’s and Women’s Golf at Merrimack College from 2017 to 2024, leading the women’s team to the 2019 NE10 Championship and a berth in the NCAA Regionals. Before his time with the Warriors, Malcolm was an assistant at Southern New Hampshire University in 2015 and 2016. A 2001 graduate of Bryant, Malcolm served as team captain during his senior year while helping the Bulldogs qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championship. As a student-athlete, he earned NE10 All-Conference First Team and Division II All-New England First Team honors in 2000 and was the recipient of the Bryant College Bulldog Leadership Award. Malcolm began his coaching career at Northbridge High School in 2003 and continued through 2007 before serving as a PGA professional at four clubs/institutions for nearly a decade. He was named the 2022 New Hampshire PGA Chapter Golf Professional of the Year and the 2023 New Hampshire PGA Chapter Teacher of the Year.

Dan Warshafsky joins Bishop Guertin with nearly two decades of experience in wrestling as both a coach and official in the region. A former assistant coach at Chelmsford High School and head coach at the Boys & Girls Club of Nashua, he is known for building strong, disciplined, and resilient student-athletes. He is one of the most decorated Massachusetts High School wrestlers ever, and was one of the first student-athletes in the state’s history to have won three championships as a competitor. Following his stellar high school career, Warshafsky would go on to wrestle at the Division I level at Sacred Heart. His coaching style emphasizes sportsmanship, hard work, and personal growth, both on and off the mat, helping his student-athletes reach their full potential.
