Boys Lacrosse Wins 4th Straight State NH Title

On Saturday, June 8, the Bishop Guertin Boys Lacrosse Team claimed its record 13th New Hampshire Division I State Championship.

The Cardinals defeated Bedford, 15-12, in Exeter at Bill Ball Stadium.

A game that was tied at 10-10 in the fourth quarter ended with a late rally as BG took down their rivals by three en route to the program’s fourth straight state title. For the Cardinals, the win was also the 13th crown since 2005, setting a new mark for the most titles by any team in Granite State history, while doing so in just a two-decade span.

Bishop Guertin finished the season with an 18-3 overall record. In games played against other New Hampshire teams, the Cards were 12-0 during the regular season before adding another three wins to the total during the championship run.

Bedford entered the game as the top seed in the postseason tournament boasting an 18-1 overall record. The Bulldogs’ lone loss of the season — prior to Saturday — was a 13-12 double-overtime defeat at Stellos Stadium in Nashua to BG in just the fourth game of the season.

Micheal Ponto ’25 led the way with six points on five goals and an assist. Possession was key in the Cards’ run in Saturday’s game as Paulo Vazquez ’25 won 25-of-28 faceoffs, allowing BG to take a 4-0 run following the fourth-quarter tie to secure the victory.

In the circle, Will Murphy ’24 stopped eight shots in his final game wearing the Green and Yellow.

For the seniors, the Class of 2024 graduates as just the third group to win state titles all four years on campus, joining the Classes of 2013 and 2014, respectively. Additionally, this year’s seniors never lost a game to a Granite State opponent, winning all 60 games played during their time representing Bishop Guertin.
