BG Students and Staff Volunteer in Louisiana

During the final week of July, five Bishop Guertin students and two faculty/staff chaperones were part of the 2022 Brothers of the Sacred Heart Mission Trip. Ryanne Delaney ’23, Sofia Ocque ’24, Angelina Turcotte ’23, Elias Theofilopoulos ’24 and Kendra Haley ’24 were joined by Mrs. Pinnsonneault and Mr. Millett  for a week of community service in Louisiana.

The BG group joined those from seven other Brothers schools with E.D. White Catholic High School hosting the event for nearly 60 total volunteers. While there, the group performed service work in the community centered around disaster recovery in Houma, Louisiana, stemming from Hurricane Ida last year. Painting, property demolition and clean up were part of the services that our students assisted with.

Additionally, the entire group celebrated the bicentennial of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart on Saturday night with a mass and dance party following a week of nightly prayers and reflections. There were also day trips to an alligator farm and the French Quarter and Jackson Square in New Orleans to round out another very successful and fun trip for our students.
